Spirit Week

This is a week of dress-up days, class competitions, pep rallies, and loud fun! Usually, at the end of the winter sports season, SCCS goes wild with spirit! During a week of competition, the secondary students earn points as a class and the overall winner is decided. Elementary also joins in the fun with dress-up days during the week. The last day is a Red Fred day, and everyone on campus gets in the spirit.

Red Fred Day

Way back in the 80s, students would dress up the day before a large athletic event to cultivate the Cardinal spirit. One high school student took it to a whole new level and came to school decked out in red, from head to toe. Students soon began to call him “Red Fred.” Thus an SCCS tradition was born and students have been going red like Fred for decades.

Anytime you hear that there is a “Red Fred” day coming, get ready to enjoy some fun-filled bonding. It’s time to pull out everything you have that is red and pile it on! Prizes for “most red” and “most creative” are handed out for both elementary and secondary.  As well, the class that shows the most spirit receives the coveted Spirit Stick. Cameo appearances by our very own Cardinal Mascot, “Fred Jr.”, along with game times and fun memories are sure to mark the day.

Fall Festival

Each year SCCS Student Leadership plans an event that includes High School and Jr High students. Fall Festival is usually held in late October or early November and students gather to play games, have dinner and enjoy fellowship with a theme.

Art & Photography Exhibit

Each year in early Spring, SCCS art students participate in an art show consisting of student drawings and paintings. Art is created in secondary classes taught by Emmy recipient and ArtTree founder, Bob Hernandez. Mr. Hernandez teaches elementary, junior high, and senior high art classes. The junior high and high school students also attend field trips such as touring CBS.

Music Programs

Each December and May our Choir and our Elementary music classes conduct a program. The Secondary choir shares an evening of music and song with a Christmas theme in December and in May they share a culmination of the year’s work.

The Elementary music classes have a concert and drama presentation in both December and May. The Elementary music teacher, Mrs. Dixon, and the Drama teacher, Mrs. Smith collaborate to create a wonderful evening of entertainment and offer the gospel as well.

    Senior Appreciation & Chapel

Each May SCCS spends a week saying goodbye to the senior class. Fun lunches, parties, and a finale chapel fill the week with fun and memories. At the senior chapel, the senior class has time to reflect on their years at SCCS, their underclassmen’s advice, and the excitement for the future.
